Completion Of Assembly Of Japanese Experiment Module Kibo
Tokyo, Japan (SPX) Jul 21, 2009 The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency would like to announce that we have completed the assembly of the Japanese Experiment Module "Kibo," Japan's first manned space facility. The assembly was confirmed to be completed as the Exposed Facility was attached to the Kibo's Pressurized Module by the STS-127 (2J/A) mission, and all functions were verified to be satisfactory at 11:23 a.m. on July 19, 2009 (Japan Standard Time.) The Japanese Experiment Module "Kibo" is now fully established as a permanent on-orbit laboratory that provides both pressurized and exposed experiment environments. Space station astronauts fix broken toilet: NASA Washington (AFP) July 20, 2009 NASA avoided a rather messy situation in space Monday after giving astronauts aboard the International Space Station the green light to use a toilet after crew members worked for a day to repair it. "The US Destiny lab toilet has been repaired and checked out. The crew has been given a "go" to use it.
