As part of a Phase III contract awarded under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, Eye- Sys will be used to visualize intelligence data for analysis by the US Dept. of Defense. "Our five-year SBIR relationship with the Dept. of Defense clearly demonstrates the value Eye-Sys brings to the US military's intelligence efforts," noted IDV CEO Chris King.
"And the award of a Phase III contract reaffirms the tremendous potential of Eye-Sys at both the DoD and other agencies and businesses where a versatile visualization package is required." This contract continues Eye-Sys development efforts that began in May of 2002, when IDV was awarded an initial $70,000 Phase I SBIR contract to develop software for use with military modeling and simulation programs.
IDV and its visualization software has recorded years of success as part of this SBIR effort. After competing with three other small high-tech businesses during the Phase I SBIR project, IDV was the only firm to be awarded a Phase II contract. That $750,000 contract, awarded in early 2003, helped fund the development of Eye- Sys for commercial sale. The software launched as a commercial product on November 13, 2007.
At the time of the Phase II announcement, Dept. of Defense officials praised the software's potential to bring a new understanding to defense data. "IDV's software will enable the U.S. military to view and understand complex data in an unprecedented way," said Mark Houghton, who was then head of a major intelligence program for the U.S. Dept. of Defense.
