Framatome has secured a contract with CNAT (Centrales Nucleares Almaraz-Trillo) for the long-term supply of HTP fuel assemblies to Unit 1 of the Trillo nuclear power plant in Spain. The agreement includes nine fuel deliveries and associated services from 2026 to 2035, with the option for further extensions if the plant's operational lifespan is extended.

"CNAT is a longstanding customer, and Framatome has supplied fuel to the Trillo plant since the start of operations in the late 1980s," said Lionel Gaiffe, senior executive vice president of the Fuel Business Unit at Framatome. "We are pleased to continue to support CNAT and Trillo through the long-term delivery of our safe, reliable, and high-performance HTP fuel."

The HTP (high thermal performance) fuel assemblies incorporate a Framatome-developed spacer grid that is a key element of the design. These assemblies have been used in 45 reactors worldwide.

"This contract confirms CNAT's commitment to the long-term operation of the Trillo nuclear power plant through solutions focused on the safety, reliability, and efficiency of the plant, supplied by a partner such as Framatome," stated Borja Rosell, Technical Services vice president.

Located northeast of Madrid, the Trillo plant is a pressurized water reactor with a capacity of 1,066 MW. Framatome, the plant's Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), has provided fuel, engineering, and field services since the facility began operations in 1988.
