Singapore and the United Arab Emirates agreed Wednesday to collaborate on environmental and water issues, a Singapore government statement said.
The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding at an event in conjunction with Singapore International Water Week, which has brought experts together to discuss issues related to the world's water resources.
"Both countries have agreed to collaborate in the following areas: environmental protection and sustainable development; water research and development; capacity building in environmental and water management; and raising environmental awareness through public education," the statement said.
Singapore, a city-state with virtually no natural resources, has diversified its own sources of water, built a water industry, and seeks to become a centre of solutions to water problems.
