Sunrise Solar has announced the formation of its new Research and Development division. The new division will be lead by the Company's Director of Research, Dr. Jun Kim.
Sunrise Solar will pursue the development of multiple new technologies designed to increase the efficiency of photovoltaic solar cell performance while utilizing new materials technology to reduce both the cost and weight compared to industry standard photovoltaic solar cells.
"We are excited to announce the formation of our Research and Development Division," said Mr. Eddie Austin, Chairman and CEO of Sunrise Solar Corp.
"We believe that in addition to delivering solutions to our clients using today's technologies, it is important to press forward with new developments in solar technology which will make it easier for the average American to do their part to reduce our dependence on foreign energy resources."
The majority of all major photovoltaic manufacturers continue to expand production. SunPower of California has added more than 625-megawatt capacity at its Philippines facility, while Applied Materials has moved aggressively into the sector in the past few years.
Germany's SolarWorld is aiming to reach 500-megawatt production by 2010.
